| - 이름 : M.T. - 국적 : 일본 - 거주도시 : 토론토 - 수강과정 : 언론 및 출판 고급작문과정(PJP, Powerwriting for Journalism and Publishing) It is so much fun using my creativity in my writing! It is very important to learn different expression to be a better writer. I am writing for a magazine, newspaper, paraphrasing, essays, making catch phrases for advertisings, I didn’t realize there are so many different writing styles out there! We don’t just write, but we write to attract audiences with all different techniques. Opening sentence of the writing is very important that the sentence can either attract readers or not. We have to be creative much as we can, we need to use attractive expression in the writing, and we also need to learn marketing perspective in our writing. We are learning how to write to attract different readers for different Medias. Power writing is not an essay writing course or writing centre you can find in university. We learn so much about different writing style! I use all my brain to write for many different things and that’s how we increase communication skills in writing! We are learning the process of completing one writing assignment and project. We re-write our writing and edit many times to complete the writings. Writing assignments are carefully reviewed by the instructor and I receive corrections and comments. I like the way instructor differentiate colors correcting and commenting my writing. He uses green for good expressions and idioms I used in my writing. He uses red for grammar correction. He uses blue to comment! There is no correct answer in writings, but by receiving feedback, corrections and advices, I am improving my writing every day. We have a pair work to correct each other’s writings. By reading and reviewing class mate’s work, we can learn different expressions and vocabularies. I realized that sometimes you can see different personalities from writings! There is a lot of homework I have to do in order to keep up to the class, but I enjoy learning in this class. It is different from ESL and it’s very intensive. For the group project, we recently did restaurant reviews. We pick one restaurant in Vancouver to introduce in for example, travel magazine. We have to write to attract tourists to visit the restaurant. You need to be a creative write and also a team player! Our instructor is very friendly and flexible. He can give us a clear instruction and feedback. We sometimes go out for dinner together as class, go watch movie together as a class! I am enjoying learning together with my classmate and my teacher. | ||||||
