맥콰리대학교 QS 랭킹 세계 16위, 호주 1위(설립 50년 미만)

SIBT는 맥콰리대학교가 호주에서 1위, QS World University Ranking 중 총 16위(설립 50년 미만)로 선정됨을 기쁘게 생각합니다. 위 대학교는 호주에서 1위 대학교로 선정됐을 뿐 아니라 The Times Higher Education에서 선정한 100개의 대학교(설립 50년 미만) 중 33위를 차지하였습니다.  

호주의 대학교 중 20%가 세계 랭킹 50위 안에 들며 이는 다른 국가와 비교했을 때 가장 높은 수치입니다. 호주대학교 최고경영진인 Belinda Robinson은 “호주는 다른 어떤 나라보다 세계 50위 안에 드는 많은 대학교를 배출했으며 세계에서 가장 좋은 학습환경을 제공하고자 노력하고 있다”고 전했습니다. 

The Times Higher Education은 호주는 50 ~ 100위에 속하는 14개 학교들을 갖고 있는 세계 2위인 국가라고 강조하였습니다. 50년대 전까지 맥콰리대학교(1964년 설립)와 울릉공대학교(1975년 설립)가 호주 대표하는 대학교였으며 그 후에는 가장 많은 ATN(Australian Technology Network of Universities) 회원을 보유하고 있는 퀸즐랜드공과대학교(1989년 설립)가 대표적인 대학교역할을 하였습니다. 

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds Limited)의 보도국장인 Ben Sowter는 호주의 훌륭한 교육 정책은 “동과 서의 경제가 서로 순환되게 만들었다”고 전했습니다.  

위 결과는 호주에게 놀랄만한 성과이며 호주 국민들을 비롯해 전 세계에서 인정하듯이 호주는 대학교육을 받기에 가장 좋은 환경을 갖춘 나라입니다. 

이번 QS World University Ranking주관한 순위 결과는 세계 유수의 신생 대학들이 평가될 수 있는 새로운 길을 제시하였습니다. The QS는 대학교 순위 집계를 진행하는 권위 있는 기관이며 졸업생들의 취업 및 고용주들이 가장 훌륭한 대학교 교과과정 등을 선정하는 등 구체적인 방법을 바탕으로 평가하고 있습니다. The times Higher Education에서 주관하는 대학교 순위(설립 50년 미만인 대학교) 또한 유사한 결과로 나왔으며 곧 공식 발표될 예정입니다.

SIBT is proud to announce that Macquarie University has recently been ranked number 1 in Australia and 16th worldwide of universities under the age of 50 by the QS World University Rankings. The university has also been ranked number 1 in Australia and 33rd worldwide in the top 100 universities under the age of 50 by the Times Higher Education.

Australian universities account for 20% of the total universities in the global ranking of 50, which is the most number of universities for any country. Universities Australia Chief Executive, Belinda Robinson, said “Australia has more universities than any other country in the world listed in the top 50, making it one of the world’s most favourable study destinations’’.

The Times Higher Education re-iterates this point by stating that Australia is an outstanding performer, with 14 institutions among the 100 Under 50, making it the second-strongest nation on the list. Australia's under-50s are led by Macquarie University (founded in 1964) and the University of Wollongong (1975), followed by the Queensland University of Technology (40th) in a group that includes most members of the Australian Technology Network of Universities’

Australia's strong performance reflected its "economic position at the crossroads between East and West", QS (Quacquarelli Symonds Limited) intelligence unit head Ben Sowter says. This is an outstanding result for Australia and reinforces what most Australians and others already know; Australia is, by world standards, a great place to pursue a university education.

The results by QS World University Rankings provides a new way of comparing the newer universities globally. The QS ranking holds a prestigious place in university rankings, as it is based on the levels of graduate employment and more specifically, on employers’ impressions of the best quality programs. The Times Higher Education ranking of universities under 50 years old has also published similar results and will be out soon.
